Text :
The proletariat need no longer elevate itself step by step according to national laws, nor seek to make its worth felt in proportion as it acquires greater compactness, ability and strength, thus stamping its imprint on the evolution of history by its efforts to instill into the state, the nation and international relations the true spirit of democracy, the democracy of labor. These accomplishments were to be realized with the weapons of intelligence, civilization, unrestrained liberty. But this ideal has been supplainted by a mean ideal of armed and brutal violence, the so-called "dictatorship of the proletariat" which -- at one blow -- excludes from social life all other abilities, all other contributions, all other classes, and even the great majority of the working people. Such a dictatorship in reality would not be, and for a long time could not be, other than the dictatorship of a few men over the proletariat; that is, against this very proletariat. The party and the class would be submerged by a faction.
